Our Story
Aihara & Associates Insurance Services traces its roots back to 1946 when Luis Aihara, a pioneering entrepreneur, opened Aihara Insurance Agency in the heart of Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. At a time when Japanese Americans were rebuilding their lives after World War II and were unable to find coverage from traditional insurance carriers, the agency became more than a business—it was a trusted partner and a symbol of resilience for a community striving to regain stability and security.
For decades, the Aihara family built a reputation for integrity, personal service, and deep cultural understanding. The agency didn’t just sell insurance; it provided peace of mind to families and businesses navigating a rapidly changing world. This commitment to community became the cornerstone of our identity.
In 2005, Douglas Aihara and Todd Uyemura carried forward this legacy by establishing Aihara & Associates Insurance Services, blending traditional values with modern solutions. Their leadership ensured that the agency remained a trusted name while adapting to new challenges and opportunities.
After celebrating our 75th anniversary in 2021, we entered a new chapter, joining the Ori-gen Family of Companies through a strategic partnership with The J. Morey Company, Inc. This partnership is built on upholding our legacy while expanding resources and innovative solutions to better serve our clients.

Mike Kinoshita
Mike Kinoshita serves as Executive Vice President at Aihara & Associates, helping to lead our agency into its next generation with a strong commitment to client service and focus on community. Following his grandfather and father’s footsteps in the insurance industry as a third-generation insurance professional, Mike has been in the industry since 2010 and was recognized among Insurance Business America’s acclaimed Rising Stars. Active in Orange County, he coaches Ironmen Basketball and regularly supports local community businesses, fundraisers and events — reflecting our commitment to service beyond insurance.
